In response to Richland School District (RSD) families to have vaccinations offered through school-based opportunities and the difficulty families were having to schedule vaccination appointments, a series of COVID-19 vaccination opportunities through health care partners in the Spring of 2021. These opportunities were promoted using graphic collateral via district and school websites, direct emails to student families and Instagram. RSD was one of the first school districts in Washington state to organize and promote COVID-19 vaccination clinics through its schools.
About 1000 district students and community members were able to either become fully vaccinated or begin the vaccination process through these vaccination opportunities. The families and community members who participated said they were grateful for the district’s partnering with a health care provider to offer them.
